The situation
Quotes were being issued against stock that had already been consumed by production. Month-end close took eleven days, most of it spent reconciling four systems by hand, and nobody trusted the resulting figures enough to act on them quickly.
What we did
- 01
Weighted requirements matrix built with sales, production and finance, scored against a shortlist of three platforms.
- 02
Selection concluded the existing accounts package should stay — replacing it would have cost more than integrating it.
- 03
ERP configured for stock and production scheduling, with data migrated and reconciled line by line against the outgoing systems.
- 04
Integration layer making the ERP the single system of record, with the accounts package and the web store consuming from it.
- 05
Role-based training and hypercare cover through the first two month-end closes.
The outcome
One authoritative stock figure across the business, and quoting against consumed stock stopped happening. Month-end close went from eleven days to six, and the finance team stopped assembling the board pack by hand.
