About
An IT company that writes things down.
Queue Bytes exists because too much of this industry runs on undocumented knowledge in one engineer's head. We do the same work as everyone else — we just leave you the documents.
Why we started
Queue Bytes began with migrations that other providers had quoted as "too messy" — old Exchange servers, mail systems glued to line-of-business applications, tenants that had grown through acquisitions nobody had reconciled. Messy is normal. Pretending otherwise is how projects overrun.
What we found is that the technical work is rarely the hard part. The hard part is knowing what is actually there before you commit to a date, and telling people the truth while it is happening. So that is what we built the company around: discovery that is genuinely thorough, plans with a documented way back, and status updates that arrive whether or not the news is good.
The service lines grew from client demand rather than a strategy deck. Managed support came after too many clients asked who would look after it on Monday. The software practice grew out of systems that would not talk to each other. Automation came from watching finance teams rekey the same invoice into three places.
We are deliberately narrow. If a request falls outside what we do often enough to have a runbook for, we will say so and point you at someone better — which happens more than you might expect.
We will tell you when you do not need us.
Selection engagements sometimes conclude that your current system plus two integrations beats a replacement. We hold no reseller quotas, so that answer is always available — and it has to be, or the other recommendations mean nothing.
We do not quote blind.
Nobody can price a migration from an org chart. Discovery is a paid, scoped piece of work that produces an environment map and a fixed price. You keep both regardless of what you do next.
Silence is a failure mode.
During a cutover you get scheduled updates whether or not there is news. The worst migrations we have inherited were not technically worse — the client simply had no idea what was happening.

Microsoft Partner
Solutions Partner — designation to confirm
We build on the Microsoft stack daily — Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, Purview and Defender — and hold partner status with Microsoft.

- CIS Benchmarks Audit methodology
Accreditations are placeholders — confirm each designation and remove any not held.
How we operate
Four habits, applied to everything.
These are not aspirations on a wall. They are the specific things clients notice, and the things we would want from a provider ourselves.
Write it down
Plans, findings, and handovers exist as documents you keep. Knowledge that only lives in an engineer’s head is a liability you are paying for.
No vendor quota
We hold no reseller targets, so a recommendation can honestly be "keep what you have and fix two things". That answer has to be available for the others to mean anything.
Plan for the rollback
Every change has a documented reversal path agreed before the work starts. Confidence is knowing exactly how to undo it.
Talk like a person
Status updates in plain language, on a schedule, whether or not there is good news. Silence during a migration is its own kind of failure.

In their words
What clients say afterwards.
“The cutover happened while we were closed and the only thing anyone noticed on Monday was that they had to sign in again. That was the whole disruption.”
“The audit found two admin accounts nobody could account for and a sharing rule that had been open since 2019. We had assumed all of that was fine.”
