Where IT actually breaks
It is rarely the technology.
Almost every problem we are called in for started as a process nobody owned. These five come up in most discovery calls.
-
The migration that took the whole weekend
Pre-staged sync moves the bulk of the data days ahead. The window itself carries the delta, which is why it is measured in minutes.
-
The ticket that gets closed and reopened every month
Recurring tickets get a root-cause review rather than another reclose. Fixing the cause is cheaper than answering it eleven more times.
-
The leaver who still has access
Joiner/leaver runs from a runbook tied to your HR process, with an access report you can hand to an auditor without preparing it first.
-
The backup nobody has ever restored
Restores are tested on a schedule and the results are written down. An untested backup is a hypothesis, not a safety net.
-
The tenant configured in a hurry three years ago
A scored audit against CIS benchmarks, with findings rated by risk and effort — and staged remediation so nothing breaks on rollout.
How an engagement runs
Assess, plan, execute, support.
The same four phases whether it is a 40-mailbox migration or an ERP rollout. Only the duration changes.
- 01
Assess
We map what you actually have — not what the documentation claims. Mailboxes, identities, devices, licences, integrations, and the undocumented thing one person keeps running.
Output: environment map, risk list, fixed-price proposal.
- 02
Plan
A written plan with the cutover window, the rollback trigger, and who is on the bridge. Agreed before anything is touched, so nobody improvises at 11pm.
Output: runbook, comms templates, rollback criteria.
- 03
Execute
Pre-staging runs for days in the background. The window itself carries only the delta, and every step is checked off against the runbook as it completes.
Output: live status channel, step-by-step verification log.
- 04
Support
Hypercare through the first full working week, then either a documented handover to your team or an ongoing support agreement. Your choice, made with real information.
Output: reconciliation report, documentation, handover session.
“The cutover happened while we were closed and the only thing anyone noticed on Monday was that they had to sign in again. That was the whole disruption.”
Selected work
Eight engagements, with the numbers.
Anonymised where the client asked, but the sequence, the constraints and the figures are the real ones.

Your marketing email is not going to spam any more. It is being rejected.
Bulk-sender enforcement moved from filtering to hard rejection. If your domain still has no DMARC record, campaigns are not landing in a junk folder — they are bouncing at the gateway.

Five things a Microsoft 365 audit finds in almost every tenant
After enough tenant reviews the same findings keep appearing — nearly always in environments the client believed were fine.

Common questions
The things people ask on the first call.
If yours is not here, ask it directly — we would rather answer before you commit to anything.
How do you price work?
Projects are fixed-price after a paid discovery phase — we will not quote a migration blind. Support is a monthly per-user or per-device fee with the inclusions written out, so there are no surprise line items.
Do you work with businesses that already have an IT team?
Frequently. We take specialist projects — a migration, an audit, an integration — or the repetitive load, so internal staff can focus on the work only they can do.
What size of business do you work with?
Typically 20 to 500 staff. Below that, a full support agreement is often more than you need and we will say so. Above it, we usually work alongside an existing internal function.
How quickly can you start?
Discovery usually begins within a week or two. Migrations are scheduled around your business calendar — we would rather wait for the right weekend than force a cutover into a bad one.
Do we get locked into your tooling?
No. Documentation, source code, admin credentials and signing keys are yours. If you leave, you leave with a working handover — that is written into the agreement.
What if something goes wrong during a cutover?
There is a documented rollback path with agreed trigger criteria, decided before the window opens. If we hit a trigger we roll back and reschedule rather than improvising under pressure.
Tell us what is breaking.
A short call, an honest read on whether we are the right fit, and a fixed-price proposal after discovery. No obligation and no sales sequence afterwards.
